Growth Development Manager

Location: London, Hammersmith

Reporting to: Mates in Mind Managing Director

Duties and key responsibilities

Overall objective: Create and implement a growth development strategy that will secure Mates in Mind (charity and programme) supporters in current and new business sectors. Exceeding budgeted targets for supporter numbers, income and surplus. Establishing a strong and sustained network of prospective and active Supporters, Business Champions and Partners.

 

General responsibilities include:

       Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased Growth.

       Cold call as appropriate within agreed market or geographic areas to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.

       Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.

       Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.

       Research and build relationships with new clients.

       Set up meetings between client decision makers and Mates in Mind team members.

       Plan approaches, develop pitches and growth development collateral.

       Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives. 

       Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.

       Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.

       Speak positively and enthusiastically about Mates in Mind, its products and services to ensure that a professional organisation and brand image is provided at all times to customers, stakeholders and colleagues.

Supporter Retention:

       Build and maintain a relationship with supporters.

       Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.

       Work with programme development and other colleagues to meet customer needs.

       Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.

Growth Development Planning:

       Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market.

       Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business pipeline with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.

       Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in supporter recruitment.

       Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

       Adopt a project management approach with colleagues.

Management and Research:

       Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.

       Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the Salesforce CRM system.

       Forecast sales targets.

       Track and record activity on supporters and help to close deals to meet these targets.

       Work with marketing to measure the impact of promotional marketing or media campaigns.

       Ensure that prequalification is established within a timely manner.

       Work across other functions in the British Safety Council Group – Finance, Marketing, Sales, etc. 

       Proactively manage your own wellbeing and that of others around you including attending 1-2-1 and team meetings. 

       Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work; and to co-operate with the organisation’s policies and procedures so far as is necessary to enable it to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all its employees.

 

Skills & qualifications

Essential

       Degree level qualification in business administration, sales or marketing related subject or 3yrs+ experience at a senior level in a similar role

       Excellent project management and organisational skills with a strong attention to detail required

       Strong people management skills including the ability to mentor others

       Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a proven track record of leadership that delivers business results

       Strong written, verbal communication and proof reading skills

       Excellent written communications and presentation skills

       Self-starter, able to work on own initiative with minimum guidance

Desirable

       Public speaking experience

       Economics or finance qualifications

       Marketing experience

Essential

       Experienced in developing growth strategies and plans that deliver commercial, brand and charity objectives

       Experience in managing and retaining relationships with stakeholders

       Strong data, trend and analytical skills

       Excellent knowledge and understanding of how to write effective business proposals  

       Highly effective communicator

       Proven ability to negotiate

       Experience working to and exceeding targets

       Good teamwork skills with the ability to work as part of a broader sales function

       Strong customer focus with the ability to use customer insight to inform customer-focused growth development

       Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and provide useful advice and input across the business

       Experience working in a not for profit / charity growth development role

       Salesforce experience a distinct advantage

       Experience in a membership organisation
